I Have Kept My Promise To Ham People – Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani has declared that he has fulfilled a major commitment to the Ham people of Kaduna State following the commissioning of key road infrastructure projects in Jaba Local Government Area, ending what he described as more than two decades of neglect in the area.

Speaking during the inauguration of five township roads in Kwoi, the headquarters of Jaba Local Government, and the strategic Kwoi–Gora Road, Governor Sani said the projects demonstrate his administration’s commitment to delivering on promises and ensuring equitable development across Kaduna State.

“When I performed the groundbreaking ceremony last September, I assured the people that this intervention would not become another promise deferred.

Today, by the grace of God and through the dedication of our team, we have returned to redeem that pledge. Nothing strengthens the bond between a government and its people more than promises fulfilled,” the governor said.

The commissioned roads include Audu Tilo Road, Sabon Gari Road, Doctor Sani Road, Hospital Road and Kpop Ham Palace Road, alongside the Kwoi–Gora Road, a critical transport corridor linking communities within the local government.

Governor Sani lamented that Jaba had endured decades of infrastructure deficit, noting that no completed kilometre of road had been constructed in the area for over 20 years.

“For well over two decades, Jaba Local Government Area did not witness the construction of a single completed kilometre of road. It was among the 12 local governments that suffered neglect in terms of road development.

Such imbalance was inconsistent with the principles of fairness, equity and justice upon which enduring development must rest,” he stated.

The governor stressed that his administration has deliberately pursued an inclusive infrastructure agenda aimed at correcting historical disparities and extending development to every corner of the state.

According to him, the government has initiated 150 road projects spanning more than 1,355 kilometres across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas, with most of the projects already completed.

“These projects represent far more than completed infrastructure. They are enduring symbols of our resolve to ensure that no community is excluded from the dividends of democratic governance,” he said.

Governor Sani reiterated that governance under his administration is anchored on fairness and equal access to opportunities, regardless of geography, political affiliation or identity.

“Our philosophy is simple: government must not be defined by geography, politics or identity, but by fairness in the allocation of opportunities and public investment,” he added.

Highlighting the significance of the projects, the governor described the Kwoi township roads and the Kwoi–Gora Road as strategic investments designed to stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.

He said the roads would enhance mobility, improve access to schools and healthcare facilities, boost commercial activities, and reduce transportation challenges faced by farmers and traders.

Governor Sani recalled that the Kwoi–Gora Road had long been a source of hardship, particularly during the rainy season when erosion and poor road conditions often cut off communities and hindered economic activities.

“The Kwoi–Gora Road was synonymous with hardship. During the rainy season, erosion and poor road conditions disrupted movement, isolated communities, increased transportation costs and limited access to essential services.

“Today, that difficult chapter has been replaced by new opportunities. This road will strengthen social and economic interactions, improve emergency response, facilitate agricultural transportation and open wider prospects for investment across Jaba Local Government Area,” he said.

Residents and community leaders described the road projects as a historic milestone for the Ham people, expressing optimism that the improved infrastructure would accelerate economic activities, deepen social integration and attract new investments to the area.

The commissioning marks another significant milestone in Governor Uba Sani’s statewide infrastructure renewal programme, which the administration says is focused on bridging development gaps and delivering inclusive growth across Kaduna State.
