Nigeria’s entertainment scene is gearing up for a busy festive season as 2026 winds down, with fashion showcases, film awards, concerts, music festivals, and cultural celebrations expected to attract celebrities, creatives, tourists, and Nigerians in the diaspora. From Lagos to Calabar and Enugu, several events are lined up for November and December, offering opportunities to celebrate fashion, film, music, and culture while boosting the country’s creative and hospitality industries.
One of the immediate attractions is the ninth edition of GTCO Fashion Weekend, scheduled for November 7 and 8 at the GTCentre, Plot 1, Water Corporation Drive, Oniru, Lagos. Themed “Fashion Is Timeless”, the two-day event will feature runway shows, masterclasses, fashion exhibitions and conversations with industry professionals. It also provides a platform for African fashion entrepreneurs and emerging designers to showcase their work and connect with wider markets.
The 22nd edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is also scheduled for November 15 at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja. The ceremony is expected to bring together filmmakers, actors and other industry figures to celebrate achievements in African cinema. Enugu State will also host the 18th edition of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards in November. The annual ceremony recognises achievements in the Nigerian film industry, with veteran actor Pete Edochie, actresses Ruth Kadiri and Peju Ogunmola, and filmmaker Steve Sodiya among those announced for special recognition awards. The organisers are yet to confirm the specific date and venue.

As December approaches, Lagos is expected to become a major destination for music and entertainment activities, with several concerts and festivals scheduled as part of the annual Detty December season. Davido is billed to headline ORIADÉ: The Residency, a three-night concert scheduled for December 17 to 19 at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos. The residency marks 15 years of the singer’s music career and is expected to feature performances celebrating his musical journey.
The Detty December Fest, organised by Livespot360, will run from December 18 to 30 in Lagos. The 13-day festival will feature music, culture, food and fashion, with a second stage, known as the Pulse Stage, introduced to provide opportunities for emerging artistes. Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Wizkid has been announced as the headline act for the opening night on December 18, while more performers are expected to be unveiled by the organisers. Flytime Promotions is also preparing a series of concerts at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, beginning with Flytime’s House of R&B on December 20, featuring American singer Brandy as the headline performer.
Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
The following day, December 21, Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged will hold at the same venue, with American rapper Lil Baby and singers Kehlani and Yung Miami announced among the performers. The Flytime Fest, powered by Coca-Cola, will follow from December 22 to 24, with American rappers Latto, Sexyy Red and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie announced among the performers for December 22. The series will conclude with Flytime Circle on Christmas Day, December 25.

Beyond Lagos, the Carnival Calabar remains one of the major cultural attractions of the festive season. The annual celebration features colourful street parades, music, dance, cultural displays and performances by competing carnival bands. Nigerian singer Davido has confirmed that he will perform at the 2026 Calabar Carnival and Festival on December 29 at the main bowl of the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Cross River State.
The celebration is expected to attract visitors to Calabar, which has built a reputation as a major destination for end-of-year cultural festivities.
Beyond the headline concerts and carnivals, the Detty December season traditionally features beach parties, nightlife events, comedy shows, fashion exhibitions, food festivals and celebrity-hosted gatherings across Lagos, Abuja and other cities. The period also provides opportunities for Nigerian entertainers to connect with fans at home and returning members of the diaspora, while generating business for event organisers, hospitality operators, vendors and other players in the creative industry.
With more organisers expected to unveil their programmes, the 2026 festive calendar could expand further with additional performances and celebrity appearances. For music lovers and visitors planning to participate, organisers’ official platforms remain the best sources for updated schedules, venues and ticket information.
