Nigerian social commentator Mama Pee has criticised the Edo State Police Command over its warning against a planned protest, accusing the authorities of attempting to silence the voices of residents.

In a video making the rounds online, Mama Pee questioned the police’s description of the planned demonstration as a violent protest, demanding to know what informed such a conclusion.
She expressed displeasure over what she described as an attempt to prevent Edo residents from expressing their grievances, insisting that citizens should be allowed to speak up about issues affecting them.
Reacting to the security situation in the state, she referenced the recent attack on popular Benin entertainer MC Porkupyne in the heart of Benin City, questioning the authorities’ response to concerns about public safety.
Mama Pee also accused some police officers of extorting residents and made allegations about an individual identified as Egogo, claiming that he once threatened a presidential candidate in the presence of the then Edo State Commissioner of Police without facing any consequences.
