Results processed from 47 percent of Osun’s 3,763 polling units indicate that 437,873 votes have been counted, with voter turnout standing at 43.2 percent.

The figures remain provisional and are based on results currently reflected on INEC’s IReV portal, pending final collation and official declaration by the electoral commission.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has taken a commanding early lead in the Osun State governorship election, with current results reflected on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing (IReV) portal showing the Accord Party ahead as collation continues across the state.

The latest figures available from the IReV-based election dashboard indicate that Adeleke has secured 228,868 votes, representing 53.3 percent of the valid votes processed so far.

His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has polled 187,101 votes, accounting for 43.6 percent, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, trails with 8,015 votes, representing 1.9 percent.

According to the figures currently available, the processed polling units account for 1,000,978 registered voters, with 437,873 total votes cast. Of these, 428,927 are valid votes, while voter turnout is estimated at 43.2 percent.

The state results map accompanying the data suggests that the Accord Party is leading in a majority of the local government areas already reflected in the uploaded results, while the APC has maintained dominance in several councils, particularly in parts of the western axis of the state.

INEC Yet to Declare Winner as Collation Continues

The latest update also represents a significant increase from earlier uploads, when only 20 percent of polling units had been reflected on the portal. At that stage, Adeleke led with 87,306 votes, while the APC had 68,351 votes, indicating that the incumbent has sustained his advantage as additional polling unit results continue to appear on the IReV portal.

Despite the encouraging numbers for the incumbent, the election remains officially undecided, as results from the remaining polling units are still being uploaded and collated.

INEC has continued the statutory collation process at ward, local government and state levels, while political parties and election observers closely monitor every update.

Under Nigeria’s electoral framework, only INEC has the constitutional authority to announce the official results and declare the winner after completing the full collation process. The figures currently reflected on the IReV portal are intended to enhance transparency and allow the public to follow the election in real time.
