2027: Eric Opah Breaks Silence on Rumours, Reveals What His Campaign Will Be Built On

The 2027 Abia APC governorship candidate, Chief Eric Chinemeucheya Opah was received by a crowd of enthusiastic supporters upon his return from a trip he undertook to attend to his business and take care of matters at home before returning fully to the campaign.
Chief Opah said that despite the uncharitable remarks made while he was away, his campaign would remain civil, respectful and focused on offering Abians a better alternative.
Addressing the large crowd of supporters who welcomed him back, Chief Opah said the turnout was impressive, despite the fact that his return had not been publicly announced. He described the massive turnout as a demonstration of his supporter’s growing commitment to the quest for change in 2027.
Chief Opah used the opportunity to address the inconsiderate hike in the cost of campaign billboards by Abia State Government, saying the exorbitant cost suggests that the government is afraid of competition.
He said the real billboards of his campaign would be the Abians who have been economically constrained; drivers who can no longer adequately provide for their families because of the monopolisation of the transport sector through the bus terminal system; civil servants who, receive the lowest salaries in the South-East, have not been paid leave allowances and do not receive corresponding salary increases upon promotion; pensioners who have been asked to wait until 2031 for the payment of their outstanding gratuities, the emergency payments to a handful of pensioners ahead of the 2027 election; thousands of workers who have been sacked and those prematurely retired; and ndi Ezes whose rightful traditional stools, have been removed and handed over to unqualified persons.
Chief Opah confirmed that all those Abians hurting will be the real billboards of his campaign because they bear personal testimonies of the hardship and anguish many are experiencing beyond the narratives presented on social media.
He urged party members and supporters to remain steadfast, dismissing rumours that he was no longer contesting the governorship election and that the President had negotiated the 2027 Abia governorship ticket with anyone else. Chief Opah said they were falsehoods circulated by people who were afraid of facing Abians with their poor records of stewardship.
Chief Opah reiterated that he would not have embarked on the mission to rescue Abia if he believed the state’s resources were being properly managed with the intention of lifting ordinary Abians out of poverty.
He promised to unify the party and assured supporters that in the coming days, APC members and stakeholders would come together to support all the party’s candidates and work collectively towards victory in 2027
