“You Know You Won’t Buy Me Food, So Why Ask If I’ve Eaten?”- Lady Questions Men
- A Nigerian lady shared her experience of receiving support from two men during a stressful day.
- The men, referred to as her suitors, checked on her multiple times while she was busy at her shop.
- She highlighted the significance of the question, “Have you eaten?” as it can imply care and concern beyond just food.

A Nigerian lady has shared her experience with two men who checked on her several times during a stressful day, explaining why she believes the simple question, “Have you eaten?” can sometimes carry a deeper meaning.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lady revealed that she was having a hectic time at her shop when two men she described as her suitors reached out to check on her.
According to her, one of the men called her several times and repeatedly asked whether she had eaten. She admitted that she had actually gone without food but maintained that she was not deliberately trying to get the man to buy her a meal.
“One of them called me seven times and was still asking, ‘Have you eaten, have you eaten?’ I said no and did not show workings still. He said, ‘Oh, you know you said you have ulcer, eat oo, so the ulcer won’t come back,” she recounted.
The lady, however, wondered why the men kept asking about food without taking the extra step of offering to get her something to eat.
She went on to explain that when a man asks a woman if she has eaten, the question could sometimes provide an opportunity for her to mention something she would like to eat.
“If you call a girl and ask, ‘Have you eaten?’ it’s two things involved. It could be that I have really not eaten, or it could be that I want to use it as an avenue for you to get me something I’ve been craving. Food shouldn’t define who a woman is,” she added.
Her comments have since generated reactions online, with some people sharing similar experiences and debating whether asking a woman if she has eaten is simply an expression of concern or can also be an indirect way of offering to provide a meal.
