“We Want Governorship, Not Senate,” Isiala Ngwa South Stakeholders Declare
* Backs Atuma for Senate, Abia Central.

The people of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area and APC stakeholders from the area have adopted Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma as their preferred candidate for the 2027 Abia Central Senatorial District contest.

Speaking before the adoption, Chief I. K. Anyatonwu described Atuma as a prepared candidate with legislative and oversight experience, declaring that,” it is Atuma’s turn.”
He recalled with satisfaction Atuma’s tenure as member that represented Ikwuano, Umuahia north and Umuahia South Federal Constituency from 2003-2007, describing his huge contributions to legislation, human capital development and infrastructure in the Constituency as unparalleled.
Chief Anyatonwu specifically credited Atuma with sponsoring two principal Acts, which, according to him, led to the establishment of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) and the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA).
Atuma stated that the decision to support the emergence of a Senator from Ikwuano/ Umuahia favoured Atuma, adding that his experience, political pedigree and acceptance across Abia Central.
The former Isiala ngwa South Local Government Chairman and former Commissioner for Youth Development further explained that the Ngwa people were united in their quest for the Governorship and had willingly ceded the Abia central Senate seat to Ikwuano/ Umuahia in the spirit of equity and brotherhood.
The latest endorsement has added to the growing support for Emeka Atuma’s Senatorial bid and grassroots mobilization activities recorded in parts of Abia central.
The event featured cultural displays, the participation of the Isiala Ngwa South Farmers Association and several Atuma support groups, with supporters chanting solidarity songs in honour of Rt hon Emeka Atuma.
At the event, the stakeholders declared that their major political interest was the governorship, rather than the Senate, while expressing support for the emergence of a senator from Ikwuano/Umuahia.
