June 29 () — Canadian rapper, Drake, has won more than $1 million after Canada beat South Africa 1-0 in their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match held on Sunday, June 28.

Drake bet $770,000 on Canada to win. The bet returned $1,001,000, giving him a profit of about $231,000.

He shared a screenshot of the bet on Instagram before the game and said it followed a message exchange with South African DJ Black Coffee.

He wrote: “@realblackcoffee was chirping in the DM I had to raise the STAKES.”

Canada scored late in the match to secure the win at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
