Toyin Abraham Rejects Inclusion in Lagos APC Campaign Council, Says She’s Staying Out of Politics

  • Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections.

  • Her name appeared in the council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate after the structure was released by the Lagos APC on Thursday, September 17.

  • Abraham said she is not a member of any campaign council and asked the public to disregard reports linking her to the committee.

  • Her latest position comes after her public support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election and the criticism that followed.

September 18, () – Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council after her name appeared in the party’s list of members for the 2027 elections.

The actress was listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate in the campaign structure released on Thursday by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre.

Abraham, however, said she had not accepted any role in the council.

In an Instagram Story, she wrote: “I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of Politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”

The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is headed by Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture Toke Benson-Awoyinka, with veteran actor Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and actress Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.

Other entertainment figures listed include Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Yinka Quadri, Fathia Balogun, Pasuma, Obesere, Adewale Ayuba and Small Doctor.

The wider campaign council was unveiled ahead of its scheduled inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.

Abraham’s response also brings renewed attention to her previous involvement in Politics.

During the 2023 presidential election, she publicly backed then-APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and campaigned in support of his candidacy.

The position attracted criticism on social media during and after the election.

In June 2024, Abraham said she had learned from the experience and would no longer be open about her political choices.

She also faced further online controversy in 2024 and took legal action over comments she said amounted to cyberbullying and threats against her and her family.

Despite Abraham’s rejection, her name remained on the campaign council document released by the Lagos APC. Her statement, however, makes clear that she does not regard herself as a member of the council.
