Nigerian comedian MC Monica has continued to question Wema Bank after allegedly losing ₦1.8 million from his account following a link he said was sent to him over an alleged Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, traffic violation.

In a fresh complaint, MC Monica questioned how the larger transaction was completed, insisting that the only OTP he generated was for a ₦5,000 payment.

“Wema Bank, the OTP I generated was only for the ₦5,000 payment, so what happened to my ₦1.8 million? Because I didn’t generate any OTP for that,” he said.

The comedian had earlier shared his experience after clicking the link, which he said resulted in money allegedly disappearing from his account.

His latest complaint has also triggered a fresh debate online, with some Nigerians focusing on data protection and others sharing their own experiences with scams.

Wema Bank advises customers to be wary of unsolicited messages and links requesting sensitive information and says suspected fraudulent transactions should be reported immediately.
