Police Presents N17.66m Insurance Cheques to 21 Abia Beneficiaries.

The Abia State Police Command has presented insurance cheques totalling ₦17,662,806.70 to 21 beneficiaries of deceased and affected police personnel under the Nigeria Police Force Insurance Scheme.

The presentation was held at the Abia State Police Headquarters, Umuahia, under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, and covered beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident schemes.

Speaking during the presentation, the Commissioner of Police said the gesture was part of the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to the welfare of police officers and their families, particularly those who had lost loved ones or suffered losses in the line of duty.

According to him, the insurance payment was intended to provide support to affected families and demonstrate the Nigeria Police Force’s concern for the welfare of its personnel and their dependants.

Afolabi, while expressing the condolences and sympathy of the Inspector-General of Police to the affected families, urged the beneficiaries to use the money responsibly and for purposes that would improve their livelihoods.

He particularly advised the beneficiaries against spending the money on luxury vehicles, urging those already engaged in business to invest the funds in expanding their businesses.

The Abia Commissioner of Police also appealed to widows among the beneficiaries to prioritise the education and welfare of their children, describing education as one of the best investments they could make with the money.

He urged all the beneficiaries to avoid wasting the funds and to make prudent use of the financial support to secure a better future for themselves and their families.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Anthony Bagi, Mrs. Onyinyechi and Mr. Edomobi Precious Victor expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Police Force for the payment and support, saying they would put the funds to productive use by expanding their businesses, investing in their ventures and catering for the welfare and education of their children.
