Afrobeats star Fireboy DML has opened up about his first experience in Lagos and the culture shock he faced after relocating to the city to pursue his music career.

The singer shared the experience during a recent livestream, recalling how frightened he was by some of the things he encountered shortly after arriving in Lagos.

According to Fireboy, his early days in the city exposed him to situations he had never experienced before. He mentioned seeing someone run mad, dead bodies and cultists, while the appearance of some Lagos residents also added to his fears.

Despite being terrified by his new environment, Fireboy said he chose to stay and gradually adjusted to life in Lagos.

Reflecting on how much he has changed since then, the singer humorously noted that he now looks like the same people who once scared him.

“I was so scared the first time I came to Lagos in 2016, in Surulere. People’s eyes were so red, and they looked scary. In two weeks, I saw someone run mad, dead bodies and cultists. Now, I also look like those scary people,” he said.

In other news… Nigerian dancer and entertainer Poco Lee has spoken for the first time after his release from detention in the UK, insisting that he is innocent of the allegations against him.

Poco Lee made the disclosure during a video call with social commentator VeryDarkMan, where he said his conscience remained clear because he did not commit the alleged act.

“As I didn’t do anything, my mind is pure.”

He also spoke about the support he received from Burna Boy and Rahman Jago, explaining that his major concern during the situation was his people.

“You know how Burna Boy is? If he is with you, then he is with you hundred percent.

“My only concern was my people because Rahman Jago couldn’t do anything business-wise or social-media-wise.”

Poco Lee disclosed that he spent about 10 hours in detention and expressed appreciation to those who stood by him.

VeryDarkMan, who showed support for the dancer, said people questioning his release should not blame him if he did not commit the alleged offence.

Poco Lee further revealed that he was surprised to wake up to several messages from people questioning his involvement but said he remained positive throughout the situation.
