Nigerian Stocks Extend Decline As Market Cap Falls By ₦426bn
Nigerian equities closed lower on Wednesday, with market capitalisation falling by ₦426 billion to ₦163.104 trillion as the All-Share Index declined by 701.53 points.
Market breadth remained negative, with 28 decliners recorded against 25 gainers during the session.
HMCALL led the gainers with a 10.00 percent increase, while LEARNAFRCA emerged as the biggest loser after shedding 10.00 percent.

September 30, () – The Nigerian equities market extended its decline on Wednesday, as market capitalisation fell by ₦426 billion amid a session that recorded more declining stocks than gainers.
Market capitalisation opened at ₦163.530 trillion but closed at ₦163.104 trillion, representing a ₦426 billion decline.
The All-Share Index (ASI) also fell by 701.53 points, opening at 251,913.20 and closing at 251,211.67.
The session recorded 25 gainers and 28 decliners, reflecting negative market breadth.
HMCALL Leads Gainers
HMCALL emerged as the best-performing stock of the session, gaining 10.00 percent (to close at ₦3.41 from ₦3.10).
CMFC followed with a 9.92 percent gain (rising from ₦3.93 to ₦4.32),
CORNERST advanced by 9.80 percent (from ₦5.10 to ₦5.60).
LIVINGTRUST increased by 9.79 percent (moving from ₦2.86 to ₦3.14).
ABCTRANS gained 9.76 percent (to close at ₦6.75 from ₦6.15).
LEARNAFRCA Leads Decliners
LEARNAFRCA recorded the biggest decline, shedding 10.00 percent (to close at ₦7.65 from ₦8.50).
THOMASWY followed with a 9.80 percent decline (falling from ₦2.96 to ₦2.67).
SOVRENINS dropped 6.78 percent (from ₦2.36 to ₦2.20).
GUINEAINS declined 6.67 percent (from ₦0.75 to ₦0.70).
FIDELITYBK also lost 6.07 percent (closing at ₦21.65 from ₦23.05).
Several major stocks closed unchanged during the session, including FIRST HOLDCO PLC, DANGOTE CEMENT PLC, LIVESTOCK FEEDS PLC, CUSTODIAN INVESTMENT PLC, UAC OF NIGERIA PLC and JULIUS BERGER NIGERIA PLC.
Overall, Wednesday’s session ended lower, with both the ASI and market capitalisation declining, while decliners outnumbered gainers.
