NGX Falls 0.29 Percent As Market Cap Drops To ₦163.53trn

The NGX All-Share Index declined 0.29 percent to 251,913.20 points, losing 721.91 points from its opening level of 252,635.11.

Market capitalisation fell ₦469 billion, from ₦163.999 trillion at the open to ₦163.530 trillion at the close.

Market breadth turned negative, with 27 gainers against 32 decliners, as NPFMCRFBK and LIVINGTRUST each gained 10.00 percent.

September 29, () – The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session lower, with market capitalisation declining by ₦469 billion from ₦163.999 trillion at the open to ₦163.530 trillion at the close.

The All-Share Index (ASI) also fell by 721.91 points, opening at 252,635.11 and closing at 251,913.20, representing a 0.29 percent decline.

On Gainers’ Chart

NPFMCRFBK surged 10.00 percent (₦4.00 to ₦4.40).
LIVINGTRUST surged 10.00 percent (₦2.60 to ₦2.86).
WAPIC rallied 9.95 percent (₦2.21 to ₦2.43).
VFDGROUP jumped 9.84 percent (₦12.20 to ₦13.40).
ABCTRANS soared 9.82 percent (₦5.60 to ₦6.15).

On Decliners’ Side

SOVRENINS plunged 9.92 percent (₦2.62 to ₦2.36).
UNILEVER tumbled 8.55 percent (₦109.90 to ₦100.50).
NEIMETH sank 6.02 percent (₦8.30 to ₦7.80).
UPL slumped 6.00 percent (₦5.00 to ₦4.70).
INTBREW shed 5.45 percent (₦10.10 to ₦9.55).

Among the stocks that closed flat were FirstHoldCo, Dangote Cement, HBM Nigeria, Seplat Energy, Custodian Investment, Julius Berger, Golden Guinea Breweries, Union Dicon Salt and Cadbury, among others.

The market closed with negative breadth and a decline in both the ASI and market capitalisation. Investor sentiment in the next session is likely to remain sensitive to movements in heavyweight stocks and the performance of recently active gainers and decliners.
