A newlywed woman, identified as Innocent Serah, has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, with the deceased allegedly attacked while he was asleep. The circumstances surrounding the incident and what may have led to the alleged attack remain unclear.

A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday, saying the couple got married in December 2025 and had been married for about eight months.

“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. The woman had been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body had been deposited at a morgue.”

The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, was also contacted but said, “I will get back to you.” An official response from the police is still being awaited.
