“Life Is Far More Than Politics” — Ngwa Prince, Sir Uzor Nwachukwu Reacts to Viral Video, Warns Against Exploiting Ngwa Identity
Prince Uzor Nwachukwu (KSC, FICMC, JP) has reacted strongly to a viral social media video involving one Chief Charles Ogbonna, describing the development as both “comical” and “sad” while warning against what he considers attempts to manipulate the identity, history and sensitivities of the Ngwa people for social media and political purposes.
In a strongly worded article titled “The Comical, Yet, Sad, Video of One Chief Ogbonna, Gone Virulent,” Nwachukwu argued that individuals he believes have limited understanding of Ngwa history and identity should not presume to dictate to the traditional and political leadership of Ngwaland who their genuine kinsmen are or who truly has the interests of the people at heart.
According to him, such attempts amount to what he described as “delusionary” thinking.
Nwachukwu subsequently turned his attention to what he described as “acquired witchcraft,” using the term in a spiritual and metaphorical context to describe what he believes are destructive behaviours developed later in life.
Referencing his 2017 book, “THE REAL YOU IN YOU,” he recalled his earlier discussion of witchcraft as one of the manifestations of what he described as “works of darkness,” arguing that such forces, in his interpretation, seek to exercise control over individuals, systems and environments.
He also linked his concerns to the approaching 2027 political season, saying he had previously warned that the unfolding political environment could expose what he described as “witchcraft tendencies” among some individuals.
Nwachukwu alleged that some people could present themselves as friends and brothers while praising individuals publicly, only to later turn against them when their interests are not accommodated.
He captured the perceived motivation behind such behaviour in the expression: “You no gree for me!”
The article then shifted focus to the broader Ngwa identity, with Nwachukwu expressing concern over what he described as the increasing use of the name Nde-Ngwa by individuals for social media and political content.
He argued that the Ngwa people possess a deep-rooted history and cultural identity that should not be reduced to political arguments or social media controversies.
According to Nwachukwu, Nde-Ngwa represents a people and territory whose contribution to Igbo history, entrepreneurship, craftsmanship and resilience occupies an important place in the wider story of the Igbo people.
He particularly highlighted the role of Ngwaland in accommodating fellow Igbo people before and after the Nigerian Civil War, describing the people as large-hearted and welcoming to their kith and kin.
He also pointed to Aba-Ngwa as a significant commercial centre, arguing that many prominent Igbo businesspeople trace the beginnings of their enterprises and wealth creation to the area.
Declaring his personal connection to the Ngwa identity, Nwachukwu stated: “I am a proud Ngwa Prince. Well nurtured. Well molded. Roundly endowed. A servant of The Most High God.”
He then issued a warning to those he believes have turned against the Ngwa people, urging them to exercise restraint and avoid what he described as hatred, ridicule and attempts to offend the sensitivities of the people.
Nwachukwu wrote: “IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SPEW HATE, DERIDE, OR SEEK TO DANCE ON THE SENSIBILITIES OF A PEOPLE ALREADY BLESSED BY GOD AND THEIR CHI. THE HORROR WILL BE TO WITNESS THE WRATH OF THEIR GOD WHEN HE RISES IN DEFENCE.”
He maintained that Ngwa people are endowed with what he described as extraordinary wisdom, deep love for their kith and kin, and an uncommon ability to thrive despite challenges.
Against the backdrop of increasing political activities ahead of 2027, Nwachukwu concluded by stressing that political disagreements should not be allowed to overshadow the broader values, history and identity of the people.
“As I said before, I say again; life is far more than politics,” he stated.
The article comes amid growing political conversations and increasingly intense social media exchanges surrounding identity, leadership, loyalty and political allegiance, with Nwachukwu urging greater sensitivity to the historical and cultural significance of Ngwaland.
