A Nigerian living in the United Kingdom has reflected on how attitudes towards Nigerian identity have changed over the years, revealing a renewed sense of pride in being Nigerian.

According to the individual, growing up came with a different experience, as being Nigerian was not always viewed positively or fully understood by people around them.

“When we were young, it wasn’t cool being a Nigerian because people here didn’t really understand us as much,” the individual said.

However, they noted that things have changed significantly over time, with Nigerian culture, identity and heritage now being embraced with greater confidence.

“But now, I live and breathe Nigerian. I’m so proud of it, and in my next life, I would love to be a Nigerian,” the person added.
