The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has congratulated the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the Abia State Civil Service, describing their emergence as recognition of competence, dedication and years of meritorious service..
Emetu, in a special message, congratulated the successful candidates who distinguished themselves in the 2026 Permanent Secretary Selection Exercise, saying their elevation was a source of pride to their families, colleagues and the people of their respective local governments.
He urged the new Permanent Secretaries to regard their appointments as both an honour and a responsibility to the people of Abia State, charging them to bring their experience, knowledge and expertise to bear in the Ministries to which they would be deployed.
The Deputy Governor commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti,for sustaining what he described as a merit-based selection process, noting that it demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to professionalism, competence and excellence in the state civil service.
He said the appointment of the new Permanent Secretaries should inspire other public servants across the state to embrace hard work, diligence and continuous professional development, stressing that merit and competence remain important considerations for career advancement.
Emetu further charged the new Permanent Secretaries to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Governor and the people of Abia State by upholding integrity, accountability, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He urged them to ensure that government policies and programmes were effectively translated into tangible benefits for the people of the state.
The Deputy Governor also prayed God Almighty to preserve Governor Otti, grant him good health, wisdom, strength and divine protection, and continue to guide him in providing purposeful leadership for the people of Abia State.
