August 15, () — Former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, suffered a symbolic political setback on Saturday after the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a landslide victory at his polling unit in Ilesa during the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Results from the polling unit showed that the APC polled 256 votes to emerge the overwhelming winner, leaving the Accord Party a distant second with 43 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 13 votes.

The outcome produced a commanding 213-vote margin between the APC and the Accord Party, highlighting the dominance of the APC at one of the state’s most closely watched polling units.

The result suggests that the APC maintained a firm grip on the polling unit, with its 256 votes comfortably exceeding the combined total recorded by both the Accord Party and the ADC.

Saturday’s outcome also adds another dimension to the contest in Ilesa, a key political bloc where the major parties invested considerable campaign efforts ahead of the governorship election.
