Abia State Government Launches Free Employability and Soft Skills Training for Youths, Persons with Disabilities
The Abia State Government has announced a free one-day Soft Skills and Employability Training programme aimed at empowering young people and persons with disabilities with the knowledge and practical skills required to succeed in today’s highly competitive job market.
The initiative, which is being implemented through the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Vulnerable Groups and Poverty Alleviation in partnership with Mastercard Foundation and Jobberman Nigeria under the Young Africa Works (YAW) Project, is designed to enhance participants’ employability, workplace readiness, and entrepreneurial potential.
According to the organisers, the training will provide participants with essential workplace competencies, professional development skills, effective communication techniques, and other critical soft skills that employers increasingly seek across various industries.
The programme is open to young graduates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, staff of Local Government Councils, secondary school graduates, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Interested applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
The training reflects the Abia State Government’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, poverty alleviation, human capital development, and the creation of inclusive opportunities that ensure no segment of society is left behind.
The one-day training is scheduled to hold on Friday, July 10, 2026, by 11:00 a.m. at The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Church Hall, 1 Calabar Street, opposite Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Brass Junction, Aba.
Eligible youths and other interested participants have been encouraged to seize the opportunity to acquire practical employability skills that will improve their career prospects, increase workplace productivity, and strengthen their entrepreneurial capacity.
Participation in the training is completely free of charge.

The organisers emphasized that phone calls will not be entertained, urging prospective participants to communicate strictly through WhatsApp.
