Afolabi carried out the visits to Eziama Division, Obor Hill Division, Ndiegoro Division and the Central Police Station, Aba, shortly after flagging off the Community Safety Partnership Initiative in Aba.

The visits, which were conducted without prior notice, were aimed at enabling the Commissioner to assess officers’ commitment to duty, inspect their working environments and operational conditions, identify challenges requiring urgent attention, and obtain a firsthand assessment of security realities in the state.

During the inspections, the Commissioner commended the officers for their turnout and the cleanliness of the various formations. He, however, expressed concern over manpower shortages and the predominance of female personnel in some divisions.

He urged the officers to maximise available manpower without discrimination, stressing that all personnel of the Nigeria Police Force are professionally trained and capable of performing their duties effectively.

The CP also directed the divisions to strengthen cooperation with local community security outfits, particularly community vigilante groups, as part of measures to improve crime prevention and operational effectiveness.

Afolabi reiterated the Inspector-General of Police’s vision of accountability, professionalism, intelligence-led policing and community policing, describing the principles as the foundation of his operational strategy for the Abia Command.

He charged officers to adopt proactive and preventive policing strategies, remain disciplined and vigilant, and respond promptly to the security needs of their communities.

The Commissioner further warned against misconduct, corruption, extortion and other unethical practices capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

He maintained that the Command would adopt a zero-tolerance approach to such practices, warning that officers found culpable, as well as beneficiaries of unethical conduct, would face appropriate disciplinary action.
