Nathaniel Idowu Foundation To Host Maiden Summer Camp For Young Athletes In Lagos
The Nathaniel Idowu Foundation has announced plans to stage the maiden edition of its four-week Summer Camp for children at the newly renovated Maracana Sports Complex in Ajegunle, Lagos.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the foundation’s Media Department, the camp will run from August 3 to August 28 as part of efforts to promote youth development through Sports and education during the long school holiday.
The programme is open to boys and girls aged 10 to 16, and is designed to provide participants with an opportunity to develop their sporting abilities while acquiring valuable life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Participants will receive professional coaching in football, basketball and athletics under the guidance of experienced coaches and instructors.
Beyond sports, the camp will feature teamwork exercises, fun games, leadership development sessions and character-building activities aimed at instilling confidence, discipline and responsibility in the participants.
The foundation stated that all activities would be conducted in a structured and secure environment under the supervision of qualified coaches and facilitators to ensure the safety and overall development of every child.
Speaking on the initiative, the foundation reaffirmed its commitment to using Sports as a vehicle for youth empowerment and positive social change.
“The Summer Camp is more than just a holiday programme. It is an opportunity to nurture young talents, build confidence, encourage healthy living, promote discipline and create lasting friendships among children from diverse backgrounds,” the statement read.
The foundation also highlighted its ‘Let Her Play’ initiative, which seeks to encourage greater participation of girls in Sports by providing equal opportunities for them to train, compete and develop alongside boys.
Parents and guardians have been encouraged to enrol their children in the programme, which the foundation said would keep participants meaningfully engaged throughout the holiday while exposing them to positive values and healthy lifestyles.
The Nathaniel Idowu Foundation added that it remains committed to transforming lives through education, health and sports, and will continue to invest in initiatives that support the development of future leaders and athletes in Nigeria.
