Mr Ibu’s Widow Appeals For Help Amid Financial Struggles
June 25 () — Stella Maris Okafor, the widow of the late Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed to Nigerians for assistance, saying she and her children are struggling to pay rent, school fees and other basic needs.
Speaking in a video interview with content creator, King Mitchy, she revealed that the family has been without electricity for about two months after their power supply was disconnected over unpaid bills.
“We fetch water from the well. Because I have not paid the house rent. And they have even cut my lights for two months now. No lights since. We have been like that. Every night we go to look for a place to charge our phones. It’s not easy”, she said.
She also disclosed that unpaid school fees could prevent her children from continuing their education.
“Right now, they can’t go to school again. I can even show you the message the school sent me today”, she stated.

One of the actor’s daughters praised her mother for supporting the family despite the challenges.
According to King Mitchy, efforts are being made to raise support for the family to help cover school fees, rent, and restore electricity to their home.
Mr Ibu, one of Nigeria’s most popular comic actors, died on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62 after a prolonged health battle. He remained one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces.
