The Director of Administration in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Government House, Umuahia, Mr. Morgan Nwazue, has urged civil servants in Abia State to embrace the vision of the New Abia initiative and actively participate in the Weekly Staff Engagement and Motivational Framework introduced by the state Head of Service .

Mr. Nwazue made the call while declaring open the Weekly Staff Engagement and Motivational Framework for staff of the Office of the Deputy Governor on Monday in his Office.

He described the programme as a key workforce development initiative of the administration of Governor Alex Otti aimed at improving efficiency, productivity and service delivery across the Abia State Civil Service.

The Director of Administration urged workers to take the ongoing training programme facilitated by the Office of the Head of Service seriously, noting that it was designed to reposition the civil service in line with the ideals and philosophy of the New Abia agenda.

Speaking on the theme, “Response of Abia Civil Servants on New Abia,” Mr. Nwazue explained that the Weekly engagement and motivation framework was carefully crafted to align civil servants with the administration’s vision of transparent, accountable and citizen-centred governance.

According to him, effective leadership remains critical to the success of government policies and programmes, stressing that policy implementation should be seen as a collective responsibility rather than the duty of a single arm of government.

He said the framework seeks to improve staff morale and motivation, strengthen communication between management and workers, promote merit-based recognition, enhance capacity development and encourage participatory governance across ministries, departments and agencies.

Mr. Nwazue further stated that the New Abia mantra reflects Governor Otti’s commitment to a new approach to governance anchored on transparency, speed, accountability, impact and the welfare of citizens.

He noted that the Weekly engagement programme would contribute significantly to building a productive, efficient and dynamic workforce capable of meeting the demands of modern public service.

In his remarks, the Director of Finance in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Udo Nmecha, commended the Director of Administration, Mr. Morgan Nwazue, for his exemplary leadership and dedication to staff welfare.

He urged members of staff to uphold the values of transparency, efficiency, accuracy, teamwork, and optimal utilization of human resources in the discharge of their duties.

He further encouraged them to remain committed to supporting and consolidating the achievements of the present administration in Abia State

Also speaking, the Deputy Director of Administration in the Office of the Deputy Governor,, Rev. Sis. Nkemdirim Iheme, said the lecture series was introduced following a directive from the Office of the Head of Service and would be implemented across all ministries, departments and agencies in the state.

She explained that the programme would be conducted weekly and facilitated by civil servants to encourage knowledge sharing and professional development among workers.

Rev. Sister Iheme urged staff members to participate actively in the programme, stressing that attendance records would be forwarded to the Office of the Head of Service as part of efforts to ensure compliance and achieve the objectives of the initiative.

Also present at the event were; the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Sir Cyril C. Mba; and other staff members of the Office of the Deputy Governor.
