For months, critics and opposition figures in Abia State have laboured tirelessly to convince the public that nothing significant is happening under the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti. They have invested enormous energy in manufacturing narratives, distorting facts, and attempting to diminish what is visibly one of the most ambitious infrastructure renewal programmes in Abia’s history. But there comes a moment when propaganda collides with reality.
That moment arrived when the Presidency, through the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare, CON, personally inspected projects across Abia State and delivered a verdict that has sent shockwaves through the ranks of naysayers and political merchants of falsehood.
After touring roads, housing estates, transportation facilities, electrification projects, and other critical infrastructure across the state alongside members of the Renewed Hope Media Team, Sunday Dare did not speak from hearsay. He did not rely on political briefings or social media narratives. He spoke from what he saw with his own eyes. His conclusion was unmistakable: Abia is experiencing a remarkable transformation under Governor Alex Otti. This is perhaps the greatest challenge yet to the opposition in Abia State.
When a neutral observer visits a project site, there is little room for deception. When a delegation representing the Presidency physically tours completed and ongoing projects and returns impressed, it becomes increasingly difficult for critics to continue insisting that development exists only in government press releases. The question therefore becomes unavoidable: If officials of the Presidency can acknowledge and applaud what they have personally witnessed in Abia, why do some opposition figures still pretend not to see it?
Is it because the roads do not exist?
Is it because the reconstructed Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Akara-Alayi-Abiriba-Ohafia Road is imaginary?
Is it because the iconic Omenuko Bridge is invisible?
Is it because the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal was built only in photographs?
Or is it because political bitterness has become stronger than patriotism?
What makes the Presidency’s assessment particularly significant is that it did more than commend Governor Otti’s projects. It indirectly exposed the developmental failures of previous administrations.

The housing projects being developed under the Renewed Hope initiative are helping address housing deficits while stimulating economic activities.
The transportation infrastructure, road networks, and strategic partnerships with the Federal Government are laying the foundation for sustainable development.
These are not campaign promises. They are realities that can be seen, touched, and experienced. Perhaps even more remarkable is the spirit of collaboration highlighted by the Presidency.
Despite belonging to different political parties, Governor Alex Otti and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration have demonstrated that governance is not a battlefield of partisan interests but a platform for delivering results to citizens.
Sunday Dare’s commendation of the productive relationship between Abia State and the Federal Government sends another powerful message to political actors who thrive on division: development flourishes when leaders place the people above politics.
This explains why federal and state projects are progressing simultaneously across Abia.
This explains why strategic investments continue to flow into the state.
This explains why the state’s developmental trajectory is attracting national attention.
Today, Abia stands at a defining moment. The testimony coming from the Presidency is not merely a compliment; it is an independent validation of what millions of Abians are already witnessing.
It confirms that the transformation is real.
It confirms that infrastructure renewal is happening.
