The Jos Muslim Ummah has expressed grief over the passing of a respected community leader, Alhaji Garba Abdulkadir, the Turakin Jos North, who died on Sunday, October 25, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
The late Turaki was the leader of the Muslim Ummah, deputy chairman of Plateau State chapter of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), chairman of the Jos Central Mosque management council and patron of the Musabaqah Foundation for qur’anic competition in Plateau State.
A statement signed by the Chief Imam,
Jos Central Mosque, Sheikh Ghazali Ismail Adam and the Makama of Jos North, Alhaji Sani Mu’azu (FFA, FDGN) for the Jos Muslim Ummah made available to LEADERSHIP Sunday in Abuja yesterday described his passing as a great loss to his family, the JNI and the entire Muslim Ummah.

It said his years of dedicated service, exemplary leadership and commitment to peaceful coexistence would remain part of his enduring legacy, while his departure left a significant vacuum in the leadership of the Muslim Ummah, particularly at a time when unity, wisdom and collective responsibility were most needed.
“We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus. Ameen.
“In the same vein, we warmly congratulate Alhaji Sani Mudi on his confirmation as the substantive chairman of the Jos Central Mosque Management Council on 29th October 2026, following his earlier appointment in an acting capacity on 10th October,” the statement said.
“Alhaji Sani Mudi had served the council and the Muslim Ummah with dedication for many years. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him wisdom, strength, and guidance to succeed in this important responsibility.
Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
“We equally congratulate Alhaji Ibrahim Sale Hassan on his emergence as the new deputy chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Plateau State chapter, following a peaceful and transparent selection process presided over by His Royal Highness, Dr. Mohammed Sambo Haruna, the Emir of Wase and chairman of JNI in Plateau State.
“His emergence to succeed the late Alhaji Garba Abdulkadir represents an important step towards sustaining the leadership, stability, and continuity of JNI in Plateau State. We urge him to build upon the legacy of his predecessor, strengthen cooperation among Muslim organisations, and work closely with the Emir of Wase in advancing the unity, welfare, and collective interests of the Muslim Ummah.
