Nigerian Envoy Assures Students Of Welfare Support
The Nigerian Ambassador to Hungary, Ambassador Abasi Braimah, has assured Nigerian students at the University of Pécs of the Embassy’s commitment to improving their welfare and supporting their academic experience in Hungary.
Braimah gave the assurance on Friday, October 30, 2026, when he received the newly elected executive members of the Nigerian Students’ Union, University of Pécs, alongside other student representatives, at the Nigerian Embassy in Budapest.
The delegation, accompanied by officials of the Embassy, visited to formally introduce the new leadership of the Union and explore opportunities for stronger collaboration between the students and the Nigerian diplomatic mission.
The University of Pécs, one of Hungary’s oldest higher institutions with a history spanning more than 200 years, is home to over 300 Nigerian students.

During the meeting, the student representatives highlighted challenges affecting Nigerian students at the institution and identified areas where the Embassy’s intervention and support would be beneficial.
Responding, Ambassador Braimah reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to providing assistance and adding value to the students’ experience in Hungary.
He encouraged the student leaders to freely communicate their concerns, ideas and suggestions, assuring them that the Embassy remained accessible and willing to work with them towards addressing issues affecting their welfare.
The Ambassador thanked the delegation for the visit and disclosed that the Embassy would undertake a working visit to the University of Pécs to further engage with the Nigerian student community and strengthen ties with the institution.
Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.
Exercise your democratic right responsibly, peacefully and lawfully.
The proposed visit is expected to provide another opportunity for the Embassy to interact directly with Nigerian students and gain a better understanding of their needs and concerns.
