Delta State Commissioner Allegedly Beats a Deputy Director to Death As tension brews

The Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, has allegedly ordered his aides to brutally assault a Deputy Director of Education, Mr. Unity Adeda, leading to his death.

Sources report that the incident began when an altercation broke out between the Commissioner and the Deputy Director.

The incident happened in Examination and Standards which is the office of the Deputy Director of education

Dr. Ashibogwu reportedly ordered Mr. Adeda to leave the office while the Deputy Director refused, claiming it was his place of primary assignment

When the Deputy Director refused, the Commissioner slapped him, prompting Mr. Adeda to slap him in return.

Witnesses disclosed that the Commissioner subsequently ordered his aides to attack Mr. Adeda.

The aides reportedly tied the Deputy Director’s hands and feet before severely beating him.

Bystanders at the State Secretariat eventually rescued Mr. Adeda and rushed him to the hospital for emergency medical attention, before he died today

Following news of Mr. Adeda’s death, Organized Labor shut down the State Secretariat and declared an indefinite strike while state government officials were in a meeting with union leadership.

Sources indicate that Dr. Ashibogwu has gone into hiding, though law enforcement officials have arrested one of his aides in connection with the assault.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Delta State Chapter has declared an indefinite strike in the state following the death of a deputy director in the ministry of Secondary education.

The deceased civil servant identified as Mr Unity Adedah, was said to have passed this morning after he was tied up and beaten mercilessly by thugs allegedly on the orders of the Commisioner for Secondary Education in Delta state, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu.

NLC chairman in Delta state, Dr Goodluck Oforbruku, declared the indefinite strike while addressing protesting civil servants at the Chike Edozien secretariat in Asaba.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Government has set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the incident.but family members of the deceased who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that the Commissioner will pay dearly forever adding that he should be sacked from the office.
