A Nigerian woman has shared her frustration after authorities in Denmark reportedly refused to approve her son’s Igbo name, “Ebuka,” because the name was unfamiliar to them.

According to the woman, the issue arose when she attempted to have her son’s name officially registered. She said officials told her that they did not know the name and, as a result, could not approve it.

The development has reportedly left the child without an official name while his mother continues to work towards getting “Ebuka” approved.

Sharing her experience, the woman explained that she was surprised that the name could be rejected simply because it was not known to the authorities.
