Labour Party Strengthens Grassroots Structure in Aba North as Industrial Ward 2 Inaugurates Stakeholders Forum, Begins 2027 Campaign Preparations
The Labour Party in Industrial Ward 2, Aba North Local Government Area of Abia State, has intensified its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections with the inauguration of a Ward Stakeholders Forum and the commencement of preparations for the party’s official campaign flag-off.
The strategic meeting, held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the All Ngwa Cultural Centre in Industrial Ward, Aba, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, ward executives, political appointees, campaign representatives and other members of the Labour Party family.
The gathering provided an important platform for the party to strengthen its grassroots structure, harmonise various political structures and develop a coordinated approach towards the 2027 elections.
Deliberations at the meeting centred on effective grassroots mobilisation, internal coordination and the need for all stakeholders to work together in synergy to support the party’s candidates across the various elective positions.
The meeting also formed part of the ward’s broader preparations for the forthcoming 2027 campaign, with stakeholders emphasising unity, peaceful coexistence and stronger collaboration among party members.
Speaking at the gathering, the Labour Party Chairman of Industrial Ward 2, Hon. Kyrian Kema, called for greater unity among the various political structures operating within the ward, particularly those supporting candidates contesting different positions.
He stressed the importance of carrying every stakeholder along and maintaining a peaceful and united political environment capable of delivering the party’s candidates at the polls.
Also speaking, a prominent leader of the ward and Labour Party Publicity Secretary for Aba North, Hon. Anthony Okezie Ukwu, charged party members to remain committed to the values of the Labour Party.
He further urged members to make the continuation of Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration a major priority in the party’s mobilisation efforts, citing the need for continuity in the leadership and development agenda of the Abia State Government.
In his goodwill message, the Councillor representing Industrial Ward 2 in the Aba North Legislative Council, Hon. Chika Diewait Ohaeri, conveyed the message of the Mayor of Aba North to the gathering.
He encouraged residents who had registered for their Permanent Voter Cards to remain committed to the electoral process and ensure they collect their PVCs as scheduled, noting that voter registration and collection of PVCs are essential steps towards participating in the democratic process.
A major highlight of the meeting was the inauguration of the Industrial Ward 2 Stakeholders Forum, with Engr. Okechi Onyema inaugurated as Chairman alongside other members of the forum.
The newly inaugurated structure is expected to provide an additional platform for consultation, coordination and mobilisation as the party moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
The meeting was attended by the Labour Party Chairman of Aba North, Hon. Ebere Odoemenam; Director-General of the Alex Mascot Ikwueche Campaign Organization, Chief Daniel Okereke, popularly known as Solid Soul; members of the Aba North Labour Party executive; Labour Party Ward chairmen from various wards across Aba North; Abia Arise stakeholders and other party leaders and supporters.
The Industrial Ward 2 meeting marked another step in the ongoing effort to build a more coordinated grassroots political structure in Aba North, with stakeholders looking ahead to a campaign season anchored on mobilisation, unity and o
