Mezie Headed Back to Abuja as Sowore Confirms Bail Arrangement Amid Police Pressure
A fresh development has emerged in the case involving Mezie, with activist and politician Omoyele Sowore reportedly confirming that he is being returned to Abuja after initially being moved by the police towards Port Harcourt.
Roc Yusuf disclosed the development in a Facebook post following a telephone conversation with Sowore.
According to Yusuf, Sowore informed him that Mezie had been transported by the police towards Port Harcourt but was stopped in Enugu and ordered to return to Abuja following what he described as sustained pressure from concerned citizens.
Yusuf said Mezie was now on his way back to Abuja, where arrangements had been made for him to be released on bail to the Abuja Federal Capital Territory Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC), GreatBobb Agena Robert Ande.
The development comes amid growing controversy surrounding Mezie’s detention and allegations of oppression and illegal activities linked by Yusuf to the leadership of the police command.
In his post, Yusuf declared that the group would intensify its campaign against what he described as land-grabbing activities and other alleged illegal operations.
He further warned that the struggle against what he characterised as oppression had only just begun, vowing that efforts would be made to prevent such practices from taking root.
The latest development is expected to draw further attention to Mezie’s case, particularly as supporters and activists continue to demand transparency over the circumstances surrounding his movement and detention.
Yusuf’s account, however, represents his own description of the events. Independent confirmation from the police regarding Mezie’s current status, the reason for his transfer and the circumstances surrounding his planned bail was not included in the statement.
