Northern Bloc Vows To Reward Tinubu As Pressure Intensifies In Aso Rock

• Northern political leaders launch Renewed Hope Project 2027, promising overwhelming votes for Tinubu despite growing opposition alliances.

August 11, () — The political battle for the 2027 presidential election gathered fresh momentum on Monday as a powerful coalition of Northern political leaders, traditional grassroots mobilisers and ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders pledged to reward President Bola Tinubu with overwhelming votes, declaring that mounting opposition pressure on Aso Rock would not weaken the North’s commitment to securing his re-election.

The declaration came during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Project 2027 (RHP-2027) in Abuja, where prominent political figures insisted that the North had benefited substantially from the Tinubu administration and would remain a decisive force in returning the President for a second term.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Renewed Hope Project 2027, Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jibril (retd.), said the region owed the Tinubu administration considerable political support because of what he described as unprecedented interventions targeting ordinary Nigerians.

According to him, the administration’s student loan scheme has expanded educational opportunities for thousands of families across Northern Nigeria that previously lacked the financial means to send their children to tertiary institutions.

“The North has a lot to thank this government for”, Jibril said.

He argued that because the North accounts for a significant proportion of economically disadvantaged Nigerians, it has become one of the biggest beneficiaries of the administration’s social intervention programmes.

Jibril also pointed to the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) programme, the National Apprenticeship and Technical Education Programme (NATEP), infrastructure development, technology transfer and security interventions as evidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda was producing tangible results across the region.

He maintained that these initiatives had strengthened public confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and justified continued support ahead of the 2027 elections.

The retired military officer dismissed attempts by opposition leaders—including Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Donald Duke of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and other political actors—to build a united coalition capable of defeating the APC.

“All their efforts put together will end up in futility. We have seen them before; they have done nothing, and they are not going to do anything again. So, we are not perturbed at all. We don’t care about what they do”, he declared.

He challenged critics of the administration to identify any previous government that had implemented comparable reforms.

“If anybody has done anything similar or above what we have done in this administration, let him come forward with it. It is not an issue of argument or just talk. It is a question of what people can see on the ground”, he added.

Another speaker, Idris, also rejected comparisons between the current political environment and the circumstances surrounding the 2015 elections, when a united opposition coalition defeated then-President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to him, today’s political realities differ significantly because the APC intends to campaign on governance performance rather than political sentiment.

“Of course, people have the right to talk about rhetoric, but talking about reality and what is on the ground, we can’t compare what happened in 2015 and now”, he said.

Akume: Campaign Will Be Based on Facts

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, represented by his Senior Special Assistant (Technical), Prof. Babatunde Bernard, reaffirmed that the Renewed Hope movement would continue to showcase what he described as verifiable achievements of the Tinubu administration.

As Grand Patron of the organisation, Akume said President Tinubu had confronted difficult structural challenges that previous administrations avoided, stressing that lasting national development often requires bold decisions.

“The Renewed Hope movement will continue to present verifiable facts about the administration’s performance as it mobilises support for the 2027 elections”, he said.

He identified local government autonomy, the strengthening of security institutions, increased foreign direct investment and ongoing economic reforms as evidence that the administration’s policies were beginning to yield positive outcomes.

Director-General of the Renewed Hope Project 2027, Dauda Salihu, said the organisation would intensify grassroots mobilisation across Northern communities, taking the administration’s achievements directly to voters while countering opposition narratives ahead of the polls.

The event, themed “A New Beginning, A Shared Vision, With Greater Nigeria”, attracted APC leaders, lawmakers, representatives of serving governors and grassroots coordinators from across the North.
