PDP, APC Trade Words Over Alleged Diri-Makinde Secret Alliance
November 2, () – The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State have traded words over allegation by the former that Governor Duoye Diri is supporting the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, rather than the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu. Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movemment, APM.
The Chairman of the PDP, George Turnah made the allegation while his APC counterpart, Hon Warman Weri Ogoriba, accused the opposition party leader of lying.
However, the publicity secretary of the PDP, Ikaebimo Mark, doubled down on the claims, saying that “Diri’s government is paying monthly stipends to thousands of former PDP officials, from ward to state levels, belonging to the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki group.”
He stated that it is common knowledge that these individuals led by Turaki, are openly allied with the APM and are mobilising support for the presidential ambition of Makinde.
The PDP demanded answers from the Diri’s government over issues of public spending and the state of the economy in Bayelsa State.
‘’The PDP calls on the people of Bayelsa State to carefully examine the performance records and capacity of every candidate seeking their votes in 2027. They should be prepared to reject incompetent APC candidates in the National and State House of Assembly elections.’’
Reacting, the APC State Chairman, Hon. Ogoriba, described PDP’s allegations as laughable and untrue. According to him, “Turnah, Chairman of the factional PDP needs his head examined for his assertions, which are lies.”
