Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has opened up on his increasingly strained relationships with some state governors, accusing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of turning against him despite the support he said he extended to them in the past.
Wike made the allegations on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he addressed a range of political issues and spoke candidly about his relationships with the two governors.
The former Rivers State governor expressed particular frustration with Abdulrazaq, accusing the Kwara governor of allegedly spearheading what he described as a sustained campaign against him.
Wike said he was disappointed that Abdulrazaq, whom he claimed to have supported in the past, had allegedly chosen to work against him politically.
“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere,” Wike said.
The FCT minister further revealed that he had confronted Abdulrazaq personally over the alleged actions, stressing that he was prepared to stand by his claims.
“Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” he added.
Wike also turned his attention to Governor Hope Uzodinma, expressing disappointment over what he portrayed as a lack of reciprocity in their political relationship.
According to the FCT minister, Uzodinma was fully aware of the support he had received from him, making the current state of their relationship particularly disappointing.
“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him,” Wike lamented.
The remarks add another layer to the political tensions surrounding Wike, whose relationships with prominent political figures and governors have increasingly attracted public attention.
Wike’s comments suggest that past political alliances and support have become a source of frustration as political interests and relationships continue to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His latest accusations against Abdulrazaq and Uzodinma also underscore the widening political disagreements involving the FCT minister, as he continues to defend his position and challenge those he believes have failed to reciprocate the support he once offered them.
