VFD Group has appointed Ijeoma Emezie-Ezigbo as Deputy Managing Director, effective October 5, 2026.
Emezie-Ezigbo joins the investment company after serving as Partner and Head of Transaction Services, West Africa, at KPMG Nigeria.
The company said the new role is part of efforts to strengthen governance, leadership capacity and succession planning.

October 8, () – VFD Group Plc has appointed Ijeoma Emezie-Ezigbo as the Deputy Managing Director, effective October 5, 2026, as the investment company moves to strengthen its executive leadership and succession structure.
Emezie-Ezigbo brings more than two decades of experience spanning corporate finance, transaction advisory, mergers and acquisitions, business valuation and strategic financial management across Nigeria, Canada and other African markets.
Emezie-Ezigbo Brings Two Decades Of Experience
Emezie-Ezigbo most recently served as Partner and Head of Transaction Services, West Africa, at KPMG Nigeria, where she worked on transaction-related advisory and financial services.

Her career also includes senior roles at Stanbic IBTC Group, IBM Canada and Canadian Tire Corporation.
She holds a First-Class Honours degree in Business Administration, specialising in Marketing, from the University of Nigeria, as well as a Master of Finance degree from Cass Business School, London.
She also completed the Advanced Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
Her professional qualifications include Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Associate Chartered Certified Accountant, Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario, Canada, and Certified Valuation Analyst.
Commenting on the appointment, Group Managing Director of VFD Group, Nonso Okpala, said the creation of the Deputy Managing Director position reflected the company’s efforts to deepen its institutional structure and build leadership capacity for long-term sustainability.
“The creation of the Deputy Managing Director role reflects our commitment to building VFD Group as an institution with the governance depth, leadership capacity and succession structures required for long-term sustainability,” Okpala said.
He said the company’s ambition was to build an organisation whose strength extended beyond any individual and was supported by strong systems, capable leadership and a clear institutional direction.
According to him, Emezie-Ezigbo’s experience in transaction advisory, corporate finance and strategic management would add depth to the group’s executive leadership.
Vfd Targets Stronger Governance, Succession Planning
Emezie-Ezigbo said she was joining VFD Group at an important stage in its institutional journey, adding that she would draw on her experience in corporate finance, transactions and strategic management to support the group.
“I look forward to contributing my experience in corporate finance, transactions and strategic management to strengthening governance, supporting sound decision-making and creating sustainable long-term value across the Group,” she said.
Emezie-Ezigbo joins the group’s executive leadership alongside Okpala and Executive Directors Folajimi Adeleye and Morenike Ominike.
The Board of Directors is chaired by Olatunde Busari, SAN.
VFD Group said the appointment formed part of its broader institutionalisation strategy, with emphasis on strengthening governance, developing leadership capacity and establishing succession structures.
The company said the approach was aimed at building a resilient organisation positioned for sustainable growth and continuity beyond any single individual.
