Burna Boy Becomes Most-Streamed African Artiste On Spotify
July 2 () — Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has set a new record for the highest monthly listeners by an African artiste on Spotify.
The hitmaker reached 46.84 million monthly listeners, breaking the previous record of 46.58 million set by South African singer Tyla.
His monthly listeners have since climbed to more than 47 million, putting him on track to become the first African artiste to reach 50 million monthly listeners on the platform.
The surge in streams has been driven largely by “Dai Dai”, his collaboration with Colombian superstar, Shakira. The song, which is the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, recently reached No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart.
The achievement also makes Burna Boy the first African artiste to top Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart since Wizkid featured on Drake’s “One Dance” in 2016.

The latest milestone adds to Burna Boy’s growing list of global achievements as he continues to expand the reach of Afrobeats worldwide.
He now leads African artistes in Spotify monthly listeners, ahead of Tyla, Tems and Rema.
