U.S. Revokes Wole Soyinka’s Visa, Sparks Public Outcry

Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has confirmed that the United States government revoked his visa, citing “additional information” obtained after it was issued. The 89-year-old writer revealed this during a media briefing in Lagos, expressing surprise and noting that he has no criminal record or pending issues with U.S. authorities.

Soyinka hinted that the decision might be linked to his past criticisms of the Donald Trump administration, but said he has no plans to reapply for a U.S. visa. The U.S. Embassy declined to comment on the matter, citing confidentiality rules.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians questioning the motives behind the revocation and its implications for diplomatic relations.
