Tinubu Names 26 New Appointees To Federal Agencies, Appoints Fayose REA Chairman

• President Bola Tinubu approves 26 new appointments into the boards and leadership of 10 strategic Federal Government agencies and commissions to strengthen governance and public service delivery.

• Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose is appointed Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, while Major General Junaid Bindawa takes over the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

• Fresh leadership also announced for the National Population Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation and other key institutions.

• Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, says all appointments take immediate effect, underscoring the administration’s drive to reposition critical government agencies.

July 20, () — President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 new officials into the governing boards and executive leadership of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, in a sweeping exercise to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance service delivery across key sectors of the economy.

The appointments, announced on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, include former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).

According to the Presidency, all appointments take immediate effect.

Fayose to Lead REA Board

Fayose will chair the board of the Rural Electrification Agency, which plays a critical role in expanding electricity access to underserved and rural communities across Nigeria.

Joining him on the board are Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors.

The board will also include the agency’s incumbent Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, alongside the three executive directors previously appointed by the President.

Bindawa Heads Wages Commission

President Tinubu also reconstituted the leadership of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission by appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman.

Former Lagos lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the Commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) will serve as Commissioners.

The President further appointed Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) as members of the Commission.

The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission is responsible for advising the Federal Government on remuneration policies and wage administration in the public service.

NPC, NBET, Atomic Energy Commission Get New Heads

In another set of appointments, President Tinubu named Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), a key agency responsible for demographic data and national census activities.

He also appointed Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) company, which oversees bulk electricity purchases and market transactions within Nigeria’s power sector.

For the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, the President approved the appointment of Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Adeyanju Redeployed, NCAM Gets New CEO

The President redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who had earlier been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Engineer Julius Oloro as Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Oloro, a former local government chairman, succeeds Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January this year.

Fiscal Responsibility Commission Reconstituted

The President equally constituted a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.

Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

The Commission is responsible for promoting prudent management of the nation’s resources and ensuring compliance with fiscal responsibility principles by public institutions.

New Executive Secretary for Mass Literacy Commission

For the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, President Tinubu appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary.

He replaces Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April 2026.

Federal Housing Authority Gets New Finance Director

The President also approved the appointment of Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

Iorja replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned from the position after declaring his intention to contest the Benue State governorship election.

According to the Presidency, Iorja is an economist, legal scholar and academic currently serving as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

Presidency Confirms Immediate Implementation

Announcing the appointments, Onanuga said the exercise forms part of the administration’s efforts to ensure that strategic government institutions are led by qualified individuals capable of driving reforms and improving service delivery.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced 26 new appointments into 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions… All the appointments take immediate effect,” Onanuga said in the statement.
