Tinubu Missed a Golden Chance on Independence Day – Solomon Dalung
October 5, () – Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu squandered last Thursday’s Independence Day national address as a last chance to reassure Nigerians of the government’s efforts to unveil policy reforms for their welfare and ensure meaningful development of the country.
According to the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, last week’s Independence Day broadcast was President Tinubu’s last, which he unwittingly bungled by spending quality time on a message that neither impressed nor inspired the people.
In an interview with journalists at the weekend in Jos, Dalung said the recent visit of late President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha Buhari, to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was a veritable telephone call from her late husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, to the ADC to inherit en bloc his 12 million he reportedly garnered to win the presidential election in 2015 and unseat incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan..

He said her visit was significant politically as it can be deduced that late President Buhari has spoken with members of the Africa Democratic Congress, ADC, from his grave to the effect that Atiku Abubakar’s victory in the 2027 presidential election is certain and non-negotiable.
As the 2027 presidential election gets closer, Dalung said President Tinubu has lost everything and cannot win the election. Likening the governors that President Tinubu has defected into the APC to a hapless group running from bandits, Dalung said such governors have become political liabilities to the President because Nigerians have rejected the APC, and the same governors are now negotiating with their various people for their own survival.
Referencing the outcome of the 2023 presidential poll, Dalung said it took the grace and intervention of detained, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai for President Tinubu to win in Northern Nigeria in 2023 because the President had no political structure in that region.
According to him, President Tinubu, on getting to power, abandoned and sought to neutralise the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), component of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dalung said after helping President Tinubu to get to power, he abandoned and sought to neutralise the CPC.
As it stands, Dalung said, not even Southern Nigeria, a bloc he said has not respected the rotation principle over time, would stop Atiku and the ADC in 2027.
