The service directed Kaduna Electric and other persons seeking information about the action to contact its Debt Management and Enforcement Office, while warning that the notice must not be removed without prior authorisation.

October 6, () – The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has sealed the headquarters of Kaduna Electric over alleged non-compliance with its statutory tax obligations, escalating the Federal Government’s enforcement drive against businesses accused of failing to meet their tax responsibilities.

The enforcement action was carried out at the gate of the company’s headquarters, where the NRS posted a notice titled “Notice of Non-Compliance”.

Issued by order of the Executive Chairman of the NRS, the notice stated that the owners and operators of the business premises had failed to comply with their statutory obligations under the Nigeria Tax Act, Nigeria Tax Administration Act and other applicable tax legislation.

NRS warned that any officer or agent of the company found to have been involved in the alleged contravention could be held liable for non-compliance and subjected to punishment under the relevant provisions of the extant tax laws. It also warned against tampering with its enforcement notice, stating that it must not be removed by any person without the prior authorisation of the Executive Chairman.

“Notice of Non-Compliance” notices are part of the tax authority’s enforcement mechanism where taxpayers are alleged to have failed to fulfil obligations imposed by law.

The NRS further directed Kaduna Electric, its representatives or any other person seeking information or clarification concerning the enforcement action to contact its Debt Management and Enforcement Office.
