Obasa Commends Tinubu, Security Forces After Oyo School Kidnap Victims Freed
Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for the safe rescue of pupils and teachers kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, Obasa described the July 10, 2026 operation as a sign of what coordinated action can achieve. He singled out the Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Army, the Federal Government, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for their quick response.
“The release of the victims has brought relief to families and renewed public confidence in our fight against insecurity,” Obasa said. He added that the success proves that teamwork between federal, state, and community structures can deliver results.
The Speaker also sympathized with families who lost loved ones in the attack. He said the Lagos Assembly stands with them and prayed for strength and healing.
Obasa further praised the Nigeria Union of Teachers for its advocacy. He recalled the peaceful march staged by the Lagos NUT on June 2, 2026 to the Assembly complex while the captives were still held, calling it a powerful show of solidarity from the education sector.
He urged government at all levels to double efforts to secure schools and protect children nationwide, saying no child should learn in fear.
