Nigerian Afrobeats singer Fireboy DML has shared how a seemingly harmless Instagram post caused concern among his family members after he appeared in a photo with a cigarette in his mouth.
The singer opened up about the incident while speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast, explaining that he had uploaded a short snippet to his Instagram Story as part of a showbiz moment.
However, the post reportedly triggered an immediate reaction from his family, who discussed the matter in their WhatsApp group.
Fireboy revealed that his mother was particularly worried and became emotional after seeing the image, prompting him to reassure his family that there was no cause for alarm.
According to the singer, he explained that the cigarette was simply part of the presentation and was intended to create a certain showbiz effect.
Despite initially assuring his family that it was all an act, Fireboy admitted that he eventually smoked the cigarette.
He said during the interview: “I posted a snippet on my Instagram Story while holding a cigarette in my mouth, and my whole family started crashing out in the WhatsApp group. My mom was crying, and I had to explain to them that it was just showbiz. I later smoked it sha, I can’t lie.”

Adesua Etomi further expressed her excitement about the experiences she has had so far, adding, “I’m having the time of my entire life.”
