Munachim Alozie Emerges APP Candidate for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo 2027 House of Reps Election
Rep. Munachim Ikechi Alozie, the lawmaker representing Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has secured the Action Peoples Party (APP) ticket to contest the 2027 general election.
The development comes after Alozie lost the opportunity to seek re-election on the platform of the Labour Party, under which he was elected into the 10th National Assembly in 2023.
Alozie, who currently represents the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, will now seek another term on the platform of the APP, opening a new chapter in the political battle for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo seat.
Reports that emerged in May indicated that the Labour Party did not return its nomination to the incumbent lawmaker for the 2027 election. The party was reported to have issued its nomination form to Dr. Okey Nwambu as its preferred candidate for the constituency.
With his path to re-election on the Labour Party platform closed, Alozie moved to the APP and has now emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
The development is expected to reshape the political contest in the constituency, as the race for the seat begins to gather momentum ahead of the general election.
Before his election into the National Assembly, Alozie represented the Ugwunagbo State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2023. During his time in the state legislature, he served as Majority Chief Whip.
He left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Labour Party in 2022 and subsequently won the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 general election.
His emergence as the APP candidate now marks another shift in his political journey, having moved across different political platforms from the state legislature to the National Assembly.
With the Labour Party already linked to a different candidate and Alozie now flying the flag of the APP, the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency is set for an increasingly competitive contest as political parties prepare for th
e 2027 elections.
