Marriage counselor calls for sxxual responsibility, urges Nigerian men to avoid sex-enhancement drugs

Renowned relationship counselor and public speaker, Princess Isoken Igbinakezua, has said that withholding sex from husbands is one of the leading causes of frequent marital breakdowns in Nigeria today.

Speaking during a counseling session in Benin City on Thursday, Princess Igbinakezua described sex as a critical pillar in marriage that must be handled with maturity, communication, and responsibility by both partners.

*“I hate it when women deliberately starve their husbands of sex. It creates room for frustration, infidelity, and eventually collapse in marriages,”she said.

The counselor noted that many homes are under “palpable tension” because of poor sexual communication and unrealistic expectations between couples.

Princess Igbinakezua also spoke on male sexual health, stating that a large number of men struggle with lasting long during intercourse*, a challenge she said affects intimacy and confidence in marriage.

“About 70 percent of men don’t last long. This is creating serious problems in homes because couples are not satisfied and they don’t talk about it openly,”* she stated.

She, however, cautioned Nigerian men against the abuse of sex-enhancement drugs*, warning that such substances do more harm than good.

*“Nigerian men should stop using drugs for sex. It destroys their health, their lives and their livelihoods. Instead, let us talk about healthy living, exercise, and medical help where necessary,” she advised.

Princess Igbinakezua emphasized that a healthy marriage thrives on love, communication, mutual respect and sexual responsibility* from both husband and wife.

She called on counselors, religious leaders and health professionals to create more open platforms where couples can discuss marital and sexual health issues without shame.
