“I’ll Collect the Certificate Back”: FCT Minister, Nysome Wike’s Joke Sends Davido Prostrating in Viral Video
A hilarious encounter between Afrobeats superstar Davido and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has set social media buzzing after the singer dramatically prostrated during a playful exchange with the former Rivers State governor.
The lighthearted moment, captured in a video now making the rounds online, showed Davido interacting freely with Wike during his visit to Abuja. What initially appeared to be an ordinary conversation quickly turned into a comedy-worthy scene that has left Nigerians laughing and sharing memes.
Davido appeared relaxed as he exchanged pleasantries with the minister and playfully discussed his political connections, particularly his involvement in recent political developments surrounding his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The atmosphere took an even more amusing turn when Wike jokingly threatened to collect the certificate back, apparently referring to the Certificate of Return issued to Adeleke following his victory in the Osun State governorship election.
Every second brings Nigerians closer to exercising their democratic right and shaping the future of our nation.

Davido’s reaction was immediate and dramatic.

The Afrobeats star suddenly went down flat in full prostration before Wike before moving closer to embrace the minister as both men burst into laughter. The spontaneous display quickly became the highlight of the encounter and has since dominated conversations across social media.
Nigerians have wasted no time turning the moment into memes, jokes and humorous commentary, with many amused by Davido’s quick response to Wike’s playful threat. Some users suggested that the singer knew exactly when to catch cruise, while others joked that Davido had suddenly realised the importance of maintaining peace with certain powerful political figures.
Beyond the comedy, the viral clip has once again drawn attention to Davido’s unique ability to move comfortably between Nigeria’s entertainment industry and its political circles.
The singer has remained closely associated with political activities involving his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, whose emergence as Osun State governor attracted widespread national attention. Davido played a visible role during Adeleke’s political campaigns and celebrations, making him one of the country’s most prominent celebrities with a strong connection to contemporary politics.
His latest meeting with Wike has therefore generated interest not only because of the humour involved, but also because it brought together two influential figures from very different spheres of Nigerian public life.
For many viewers, however, politics was not the main attraction.
It was Davido’s lightning-fast decision to prostrate after Wike’s certificate comment that stole the show, transforming a brief meeting into one of the latest viral moments blending celebrity, politics and pure Nigerian humour.
As the video continues to circulate, one thing appears certain: Davido’s dramatic response has given social media users yet another unforgettable mo
ment to laugh about.
