Central Ibiono Ibom Youths Endorse Tinubu, Eno, Bassey, Okon, Essien

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Central Ibiono Ibom Youth Movement (CIYM) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, Senator Aniekan Bassey, Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ime Ime Okon, and Hon. Moses Essien, Member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, for another term in office.

The endorsement was made during a rally held at the Ikpa Pavilion in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area. The gathering brought together members of the youth movement from wards nine and ten in Central Ibiono Ibom and other parts of the area.

The group said its decision was based on the candidates’ performance, commitment to public service and contributions to the development of their constituencies, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.

Declaring the gathering open, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Inyang George, said the meeting was organised to formally endorse the candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. He said the decision followed an assessment of their performance in office.

In his keynote address, President of the Central Ibiono Ibom Youth Movement, Comrade Ekemini-abasi Udoh, said the endorsement was the result of careful observation and consideration of the leadership records and developmental projects of the candidates.

Udoh said youths could no longer afford to remain passive in the political process, noting that their future depended largely on the quality of leaders they supported and elected.

He said the movement had carefully considered the policies, programmes and projects of the endorsed leaders before arriving at its decision.

According to him, continuity was necessary where leaders had shown commitment, responsiveness and the ability to deliver on their promises.

He described the endorsement as a conscious expression of confidence in leaders whom the youths believed had achieved tangible results.

Udoh urged members of the movement to remain united, politically active and committed to ensuring that the endorsement translated into electoral victory at the appropriate time.

Responding, Hon. Moses Essien, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Health, Nutrition and Food Security, who represented the other endorsed candidates, thanked the youths, elders and women of Central Ibiono Ibom for their confidence and support.

Essien said the endorsement would further encourage the leaders to do more for the people. He also commended the youths for their unity and political awareness.

He described President Tinubu’s performance as commendable and praised Governor Eno for his achievements across Akwa Ibom State.

The lawmaker specifically mentioned projects and interventions in Ibiono Ibom, including Grace Estate, Ibom Medical City, Ikpanaya Road, Use-Ikot-Amama Road, the Model Primary School at Ikot Ekop and support for the Mother and Child Specialist Hospital.

The APC Chapter Chairman in Ibiono Ibom, Comrade Ime Imeh Ikpong, assured the gathering that the party would do everything within its capacity to secure victory for its candidates across the local government area.

Also speaking, Mrs. Agness Udoh, who represented the women, pledged their support for the re-election of Essien and the other endorsed APC candidates. She assured the gathering that the women would remain mobilised for the political project.
