The Association of Retired Teachers of Abia Government Schools (ARTAGS) has officially merged with the Echezona Street Vanguard for Dr. Alex Otti, marking a significant expansion of the grassroots political support group as it continues to strengthen its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The merger was formally announced during the inauguration of the Teachers’ Chapter Executives of the Echezona Street Vanguard, held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Kings of Kings Building, 137 Ikot Ekpene Road, Ogbor Hill, Aba.

Speaking during the inauguration, the State Chairman of the Echezona Street Vanguard for Dr. Alex Otti, Hon. Chijioke Michael Amaku (a.k.a. MC Boss), described Governor Alex Otti as an answered prayer for the people of Abia State, noting that the governor’s performance had continued to attract unprecedented support from various groups across the state.

 

Amaku stated that the movement was determined to build a formidable grassroots structure capable of ensuring overwhelming victories for the Labour Party in coming elections.

 

According to him, the objective is to ensure that opposition parties fail to secure victory in any local government area during the forthcoming elections.

He further expressed confidence that the governor’s developmental strides would convince even families traditionally aligned with opposition parties to support Governor Otti in the 2027 governorship election. He likened political structures to vehicles, emphasizing the need for strong grassroots organizations to effectively mobilize support for good governance.

 

The state chairman commended the leadership and members of the Association of Retired Teachers of Abia Government Schools (ARTAGS) for collapsing their structure into the Echezona Street Vanguard, describing the decision as a demonstration of confidence in Governor Otti’s administration and its vision for a greater Abia.

He also urged members who are yet to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that voter registration remains essential for citizens to participate in shaping the state’s future through the ballot.

 

Am⁠aku e‍x‍pres⁠sed confid⁠ence‍ that Governor Alex Otti would record m‌assive votes⁠ in t‌he 2027 governorship ele‌ction, noting th‍at the expected electoral vi⁠ctory would serve as a‍ coll⁠ective “Th⁠ank You for the Good Works” in recognition of the governor’s performance and development‌al strid‍es across Abia State.

 

The event attracted several notable leaders of the Echezona Street Vanguard, including the Councillor representing Old GRA Ward 7 in Aba North, Hon. Julius Alfred, the Aba Zonal Coordinator of Echezona Street Vanguard for Dr. Alex Otti, Hon.
