October 13, () – MEDIA TODAY Channel has blacklisted Anthony Kila and permanently barred the political analyst from appearing on its network following allegations that he falsified his academic credentials.
The broadcaster announced the decision in a disclaimer issued by its Editorial Board on Tuesday, saying Kila’s continued association with the station had become “no longer tenable” in the wake of findings from an investigation by PREMIUM TIMES.

In the disclaimer, titled, “Investigation: Anthony Kila’s ‘Degrees’”, MEDIA TODAY said it contacted Kila on October 3, 2026, after allegations emerged that he had falsified his academic credentials.
According to the broadcaster, Kila requested more time to respond to the claims but failed to explain 10 days later.

“Following claims that Anthony KILA falsified his entire academic credentials we contacted Mr KILA on 03 October, 2026 with the allegations. He asked for more time to respond to the claims.
“He has not responded 10 days after — instead, the allegations have gotten worse. In the circumstances we find that his contributions to The MEDIA TODAY Channel are no longer tenable,” the Editorial Board said.
The broadcaster consequently announced an immediate and indefinite severance of its relationship with the analyst, declaring that he would not be allowed to return to its platforms in the future.
“We have noted the findings of the Premium Times investigation and Mr Kila will not be appearing on our networks at any time now or in the future – effective immediately,” it said.
MEDIA TODAY also sought to distance itself from the controversy surrounding Kila’s credentials, stressing that it did not know about the allegations when it invited him to its programmes.
It said credibility and integrity remained fundamental to its operations and that the seriousness of the allegations required decisive action.
“MEDIA TODAY was unaware of these allegations at the time Anthony Kila appeared on our platform and as we take matters of credibility and integrity extremely seriously,” the network said.
Investigation Triggers Credentials Storm
The action by MEDIA TODAY is the latest fallout from an investigation by PREMIUM TIMES into Kila’s academic and professional claims.
The newspaper’s investigation raised questions about qualifications and academic titles attributed to Kila, including his use of the title “Professor”.
The investigation examined Kila’s claimed academic history across institutions in Europe and questioned whether available records supported some of the qualifications attributed to him.
The controversy assumed greater significance because Kila had built a public profile as an academic, political analyst and commentator, appearing on television and other public platforms to offer analysis on Politics, governance, economics and public policy.
Kila had served as Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in Delta State before the institution suspended him from the position following the emergence of questions over his academic credentials.
