Abia State Police Issue 14-Day Ultimatum Over Abandoned Vehicles, Motorcycles and Other Property
The Abia State Police Command has issued a 14-day ultimatum to owners of abandoned and unclaimed vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles and other property currently in its custody at the Osisioma Divisional Headquarters, warning that any item not claimed within the stipulated period will be disposed of through a public auction.
The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen C. Chinaka, on Friday, August 21, 2026.
According to the Command, the unclaimed property includes several motorcycles, a Keke bus, a tricycle, a generator and a Toyota pick-up vehicle, many of which have remained at the division without their owners coming forward to establish ownership.
Among the items listed are a Dayun motorcycle with registration number GUA 302-QT, a black Daylong motorcycle with registration number EHM-537-QH, a black Kymco motorcycle with registration number ETU 739-QP, and a Hijet Keke bus bearing registration number JRV 676-XD.
Also included in the list are several motorcycles without registration numbers, a GX 90 Scnui 3.5HP generator, a tricycle bearing security number 3203, and a Toyota pick-up vehicle.
The Police Command has therefore called on all owners or persons with genuine and legitimate claims to any of the listed items to report to the Osisioma Divisional Headquarters and provide the necessary proof of ownership within 14 days from the date of the notice.
The Command warned that failure to claim the property within the specified period would leave the police with no option but to commence the process of disposing of the unclaimed items through public auction, in line with existing laws.
The announcement is expected to serve as a final opportunity for owners of the abandoned property to come forward before the expiration of the two-week deadline.
