The Abia State Government has felicitated one of the state’s most accomplished elder statesmen, Prof. Ihechukwu Chiedozie Madubuike, OON, KJW, as he marks his 83rd birthday, describing him as an exceptional scholar, patriot, and public servant whose life has been dedicated to national development.

In a goodwill message issued on Friday, July 10, 2026, the State Government, under the leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, celebrated the illustrious son of Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State for his outstanding contributions to education, healthcare, governance, and nation-building.
The government noted that Prof. Madubuike’s remarkable career has been defined by excellence, scholarship, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service. It highlighted his distinguished service as Nigeria’s former Minister of Health and Minister of Education, where he played significant roles in advancing the country’s health and education sectors.
Beyond his ministerial appointments, the elder statesman also served with distinction as a legislator and commissioner in the old Imo State Government, leaving behind a legacy of impactful leadership and dedicated service.
According to the state government, Prof. Madubuike’s decades of exemplary public service, intellectual accomplishments, and statesmanship have earned him enduring respect within Abia State, across Nigeria, and internationally. It described him as a shining example of integrity, excellence, and selfless leadership whose life continues to inspire younger generations.
Governor Otti, while celebrating the octogenarian, acknowledged his immense contributions to the development of society and praised his enduring legacy of service and excellence. The Governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to recognising and honouring eminent Abians whose achievements continue to inspire hope, progress, and responsible leadership.
As Prof. Madubuike celebrates the milestone, the Abia State Government said it joins his family, friends, associates, the people of Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area, and well-wishers across the world in thanking God for his impactful life and enduring service to humanity.
The government further prayed for Almighty God to grant the elder statesman many more years of sound health, divine wisdom, peace, and continued fulfilment as he remains a source of inspiration to the nation.
